Thanks to the efforts of Andy Zweifler, M.D., Cheryl Farmer, M.D., and the members of the Washtenaw County Medical Society delegation, the Michigan State Medical Society House of Delegates passed a PPGV initiated resolution on Sunday, April 27, 2014. This resolution supports Continuing Medical Education presentations on gun violence prevention. The resolution said in part:
The Continuing Education Committee agreed with the general premise and intent of the resolution, namely that physicians currently are looking for more education about how to discuss gun violence with their patients in order to provide them with education and safety, and that gun violence falls into the same social/medical realms as obesity and other social determinants of health.
