Colleagues,
Eight years ago when Physicians for the Prevention of Gun Violence (PPGV) began, we asked for annual dues of $50. Your response was generous and our expenses were low. We stopped asking and built our organization. However, now the ways in which we could put your money to good use have become clearer. 1. We are helping allies with who have fewer resources.
When the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students in Parkland, Florida announced the March for Our Lives in response to the horrific shooting at their school, our local kids wanted to go to Washington D.C. in support. We donated to help them rent a bus. When these same Parkland Student Leaders and the B.R.A.V.E. Youth Leaders of the Faith Community of St. Sabina (an organization of students from Chicago’s South Side working to prevent GV) were jointly given the 26th annual Wallenberg Medal at the University of Michigan, we made donations to these student activist groups to help them continue their work.
- We also want to develop media resources- make some videos, etc.
So we need money. Please send your $50 contribution to PPGV.org. We are not an officially organized non-profit. Your donation is not tax deductible. But we promise it will be well spent! Go to ppgv.org and click the Donate button.
The members of your executive committee contribute to PPGV and keep our expenses low as we travel to speak at Grand Rounds and conferences, our medical societies and to medical student groups about GVP.
If you can’t donate now please continue to use your voice to support this important cause by writing emails, letters or making calls when we send out an alert.
Thanks for all you do!
Jerry, Andy and the entire PPGV Executive Committee
